The course is divided in 2 parts: the first aims at analysing the banking activity (conditions, authorisation etc.). In this context, it will be alighted the difference between banks and other intermediaries such as Payment Institution (IP), Electronic Money Institution (IMEL), financial intermediaries and Poste italiane. In the second part, the course will focus on the European Banking Union and, therefore, it will take into account: the single supervision mechanism (SSM) and the single resolution mechanism (SRM). Moreover, a focus will be given on the Italian insolvency procedure (amministrazione straordinaria and liquidazione coatta amministrativa) and the Italian Deposit Guarantee Schemes. Finally, the course will study state aid to bank in crisis, starting by the Banking Communication of 2013 till the Italian intervention (GACS e decreto salva risparmio).
